Twitter, Netflix Among Several Sites Brought Down Friday in What Looks to be Cyber Attack

Popular sites like Twitter (TWTR) and Netflix (NFLX) were brought down for some users Friday, after what could be a cyber attack, according to a CNN Money report.

The hack seems to have impacted users on the East Coast as well as Europe, according to the report. The report said Dyn, a website domain management company, has experienced multiple denial of service attacks, which flood a site with massive amounts of traffic to crash it, on its servers.

No group has claimed responsibility for the hack yet, but sites affected also include Easy (ETSY), Reddit, Vox, Spotify and Airbnb. CNN reported that the a U.S. government official said it is investigating the outages by “looking at all possible scenarios including possibly cyber activity.”

Despite what looks to be a hack, Twitter shares are up 7.7% as trading nears its close Friday. Netflix shares were also up 3.2%, while Etsy shares are down 0.8%.
